This is the hardest challenge by far.

Trying the Chloe Ting new shred challenge was like going skydiving. You can’t think about it, you just have to do it. ( I am so glad that I did)

So what prompted me to start the Chloe Ting New Shred Challenge 2020?

I have been struggling to lose weight for the past 6 months, I would constantly experience the yo-yo effect or have no/minuscule results. I was getting frustrated with myself. I came across Chloe Ting back in March when I did her Hourglass 30-day transformation, I really enjoyed that.

When I heard Chloe Ting released her new shred challenge, I wanted to try it. I heard so many good reviews about Chloe Ting 2019 shred challenge so I knew this challenge was going to be good. I mean Chloe Ting really did raise the bar (but more of that later)

I was all motivated until I got diagnosed with PCOS during my first week of starting the 2-week shred challenge. It wasn’t easy hearing that I have PCOS and for the first few days, I felt like my body was broken and I wasn’t functioning properly as a human being. So I took a week off, to recharge and get re-motivated. For this reason, it took me 3 weeks to complete Chloe’s shred challenge.

Whilst, the illness is new to me, I made a promise to myself to lose weight regardless. I didn’t want PCOS to hold me back or use it as an excuse. My relationship with food has never been great. While I was growing up, I suffered from many eating disorders. My weight has fluctuated over the years but I am now at my highest weight, I had ever been.

While I acknowledge that PCOS is a syndrome and I understand that it will take longer for women with PCOS to lose weight. I wasn’t going to give up. I was more motivated than ever to continue with my weight loss journey and actually be consistent with working out. I promised myself to go easy and listen to my body more. Be a little bit more forgivable but also disciplined.

For the next week, I did exactly that. I work out, there was sweat, there were tears but we did it and I am so proud of myself and everyone else who tries this challenge! You’ve got this!

My measurements at the start of the challenge were:

Waist: 90cm

Lower stomach area: 117cm

Size 16 (UK Clothing size)

What I ate during the Chloe Ting Challenge:

Every day I am learning more and more about PCOS and what my body can tolerate and what it can’t. While this is still new and confusing for me. For these past few weeks, I have focused on eliminating junk food and fast foods. I am a vegetarian so I attempted to cut out dairy from my diet to become semi-vegan as well.

I tried eating a salad a day, to keep my carbs low. Whilst this isn't picture-perfect, it's so good! It’s spinach and chickpeas + tofu and hummus.

How I took care of my mental health whilst doing the Chloe Ting Shred Challenge?

I focused on shifting my mentality around exercise. Since it’s 4x harder for women to lose weight with PCOS, I wasn’t expecting myself to have a breathtaking transformation. I didn’t even expect to lose any weight, but I am so happy with my results! I feel amazing and stronger than ever.

I want to see exercise as a form of self-care. I want to get used to working out because I feel good, not because I am expecting results.

I just had to take it easy, take loads of breaks and just go at my own pace.

The new workout challenge is hard, I previously tried Chloe Ting Hourglass Challenge and I can 1000x say that this challenge is by far the hardest. If you’re a beginner I would not recommend starting this challenge but rather, do the previous Chloe Ting 2-week ab challenge 2019.

Just to give you an idea of how difficult is the new shred challenge: Some of her low impact exercises for the new shred challenge 2020, were Chloe's high impact exercises in her previous 2019 challenge.

Unless you want to challenge yourself, then go for it! You can always do the low impact version, which is bearable.

This is what I really love about Chloe Ting’s workouts, she thinks about everyone. Every Chloe Ting video includes an option for high-impact workouts, where you can use weights and elastic bands and low-impact alternatives for people who are just starting in their fitness journey or don’t have an access to weights. I don’t see many fitness creators do this.

What I struggled with?

I mostly struggled with my formation, in the video below, I included examples of exercises I struggled with. I wish that I did this workout in front of a mirror. So that I would have a better awareness of my form and posture. I think the hardest part of working out at home is not having someone tell you that you’re doing the workout wrong. I would definitely suggest being more aware of your body and your position when you follow any of the Chloe Ting workout challenges.

Benefits of doing the Chloe Ting Shred Challenge?

I can definitely vouch that during this challenge, your core strength will improve. I think there was a good balance of cardio and building muscle and core strength. It wasn’t just focusing on getting abs in two weeks, but losing weight and getting fitter other all.

I loved that Chloe’s new shred, workout videos weren’t repetitive compare to her previous challenges. This fitness program had a lot of variation, some videos were included from her previous workout challenges. This made the whole workout more enjoyable as I didn’t feel like I was repeating the same exercise over and over again. Every day was a new video, that challenge me.

I can not stress how in pain I was doing this, but I felt good every day after I work out. It was all worth the pain!

Does the Chloe Ting 2 week ab workout work?

Everybody works differently! So whilst some get abs after 2 weeks, some don’t. Fitness is only 20% of your overall weight loss. What you eat matters more. For me, this challenge in particular worked. It wasn’t a “ wow she lost so much weight” type of moment but an “okay, this is progress” type of feeling.

My new measurement :

Waist: 89cm (-1cm)

Lower Stomach: 110cm (-7)

My overall opinion on Chloe Ting’s workout challenges and which one is better?

I think it all depends on your body goals. I am not a professional health care advisor but from my experience, if you want to shred fat focus on all her shred challenges because they include more cardio. But if you want to shape up and build more muscle, I would recommend the Hourglass challenge.
